What is Manchurian?

Manchurian is a class of Indian-Chinese dishes made with roughly chopped and deep-frying ingredients such as Cauliflower, Cabbage, chicken, etc., and then sauteeing it in different spices and sauces. We will be making vegetarian food so we won’t be using any non-vegetarian products. Basically a vegetarian alternative to the popular meat Manchurian or chicken Manchurian variant for the non-meat-eaters. It is generally made and served as a side dish to the fried rice or noodles recipe, but can also be served as a party starter or appetizer.

I loved Chinese food, especially Manchurian it’s my favorite this Manchurian recipe can be made in many different forms can be made in a gravy form or in a dry form. moreover, it can be made with gobi, paneer, mushroom, cabbage, etc. any way you prefer or like. In this recipe, I have used cabbage to make our easy-to-make dish where the Manchurian balls turn out to be crispy and light with amazingly delicious gravy within.

This recipe can be easily made at home by just following a few simple steps of it. All the ingredients used in preparing can very easily be available at home if not they can be bought from the nearest grocery store near you. If you are having a party at home or a get-together with your family and friends you can without a doubt add this recipe to your list and I’m sure they all will love it.

Adding cabbage, veggies, spices and flour to make our mixture best for Manchurian Gravy.
To make gobi Manchurian we’ll take grated cabbage. To this, we will be adding chopped garlic, chopped ginger, chopped green chilies, salt, black pepper powder, and flour(all-purpose flour).
Our dough is ready.
Squeeze it and mix it all together nicely in the shape of the dough and let it sit for a while.
Making small balls of the dough to make that perfect Manchurian Gravy balls.

Now for our gravy adding chopped veggies, and spices.
Add sesame oil, crushed garlic, chopped onion, crushed garlic, green bell peppers, and salt. Mix it all together.

Time to add our sauces( Soya sauce, Dark soy, Chili sauce, green chili sauce, vinegar, and tomato ketchup. Mix it all nicely.
Time to add cornstarch slurry, water and spices for making that perfect Manchurian Gravy.
Let’s add our cornstarch slurry, cabbage water, black pepper powder, some spring onions, and cilantro. Add water for gravy and let it boil.

  • 3 cups cabbage chopped
  • 1 tsp Garlic crushed
  • 1 tsp Ginger crushed

  • 1/2 cup Green Bell Pepper

  • 1 tsp Soy Sauce
  • 1 tsp Dark Soy Sauce
  • 1 tsp Chili Sauce
  • 1/2 tsp Green Chili Sauce
  • 1 tsp Vinegar
  • 1 tsp Tomato Ketchup
  • 1 tsp Cornstarch Slurry
  • Black Pepper Powder
  • Spring Onions
  • Cilantro
  • 1/2 cup Water


  • Making
    -Take a bowl.
    -Add chopped cabbage to it.
    -To it add chopped garlic, ginger, green chili, salt, black pepper powder, and flour to it.
    -Mix and squeeze it nicely with your hands.
    -It's time to make small balls out of it.
    -Now let's fry them.
    -Change the sides of the balls and fry them nicely until it turns crispy and golden brown in color.
    -Manchurian balls are ready.
  • Cooking
    -Take a pan.
    -Add sesame oil to it.
    -To it add crushed Garlic and chopped Onion.
    -Give it a mix.
    -To it add Garlic, Greenbell Pepper, Salt, Soy Sauce, Dark Soy Sauce, Chili Sauce, Green Chili, vinegar, and Tomato Ketchup.
    -Mix it all together properly.
    -To it add squeezed cabbage water, Corn slurry, Black Pepper, Spring Onion, Cilantro, and water.
    -Let it get to a boil.
    -Add Manchurian balls to it.
    -Let it boil for a minute.
    -And our Manchurian gravy is ready.
