INGREDIENTS FOR THE RECIPE
Maize flour or Cornmeal (makki ka atta)
Hot water or add as required
Carom seeds (ajwain)
Ghee or oil or add as required (for roasting)
We will be using Tortilla Press to make our makki ki Roti.
Cutting a zip lock bag from three of its sides and leave one of the side uncut.
Let’s add Maize flour or Cornmeal (makki ka atta) ,salt & ajwain in a bowl.
We will be kneading both the flour with water together to make the perfect dough.
Cover the dough and let it rest for a while. The dough is ready.
It is time to make small balls out of it.We will open the tortilla press and dust it with some flour.
Place a ball of dough in between and dust it a little bit with wheat flour.
Close the tortilla and press it nicely for that round and perfect shape. It’s time to open and check if it’s nicely flattened.
You need to be very gentle when you remove it to prevent it from breaking, but if you have added wheat flour to the top then there are very few chances of breaking.
Now we will put it on the Tawa and cook it from both sides nicely.
Serve the makki ki roti hot with Sarson ka Saag and jaggery cubes. If you don’t mind then you can add some White Butter (Makhan) on top of the makki di roti while serving them hot.
