Vrat Phool Makhana
What is Makhana?
Makhana or Phool makhana has many different names such as foxnuts or puffed lotus seeds. These foxnuts are very healthy and easily digestible. Also, it has some medicinal properties hence used in Ayurveda.
This is used in sweets as well as savory dishes. Most of the time, it is consumed during Vrat, upvas in North India. During fasting, we mostly eat potatoes or sabudana recipes which are full of carbohydrates. So it is important to balance our diet by including makhana, dried fruits, nuts, and fresh fruits.
Vrat Phool Makhana
Vrat Phool Makhana is a delicious and instant snack that can be served at tea time or can be munched throughout the day. This is a healthy snack recipe made by roasting Phool makhana aka fox nuts. Phool Makhana, Fox Nuts, or Lotus Seeds are loaded with nutrients and are a good source of protein, calcium, and iron and can help and satisfy all our hunger pangs.

Phool Makhana is not only good in taste but also has many health benefits as it is rich in nutrients, high in antioxidants, may support weight loss, and many more making it a perfect snack to have.
During the Navratri vrat, if you are fasting for all 9 days then make a big batch of it and keep it in the airtight container.

Vrat Phool Makhana
Equipment
- Bowl
- Frying pan
Ingredients
- 2 cup Phool Makhana
- 1/8 tsp Black Pepper fine grinded
- 1/2 tsp ghee
- 1/8 tsp salt fine crushed
- Dried Mint
Instructions
- Cooking-Take a pan.-Add Phool Makhana in a pan.-Keep on mixing it and roast them until it's brown and crispy.-Keep it on a medium or low flame so that they don't burn.-Transfer them to a bowl.-Add Black Pepper, ghee, salt, and mint in a small container.-Mix all the ingredients together and make a paste of it.-Then add the paste and coat the makhanas with it by mixing it nicely.-And it's ready.
