What is Navratri?

Navratri, (Sanskrit: “Nine Nights”) in full Sharad Navratri, Navratri also spelled Navaratri, in Hinduism, a major festival held in honor of the divine feminine. Navratri occurs over 9 days during the month of Ashvin, or Ashvina.

This puja is one of the most fervently observed worship by devout Hindus. Since Navratri marks the victory of good over evil, this occasion is a very important one to recharge everyone with courage, confidence, faith, hope, and devotion.

What is Bottle Gourd?

The bottle gourd is a vigorous, annual, running, or climbing vine with large leaves and a lush appearance. It grows fast and may begin to flower only 2 months after seeding. The thick stem is furrowed longitudinally. The vine is branched and climbs by means of tendrils along the stem.

What are Fritters?

A fritter is a portion of fruit, vegetables, or other ingredients which have been battered or breaded, or just a portion of dough without further ingredients, that is deep-fried.

Ingredients for making bottle gourd fritters are down below-

  • Bottle gourd
  • 1/4 cup tamirind flour
  • 1 tsp ginger
  • 1/4 tsp sendha namak
  • 1/2 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1/2 tsp red chili powder
  • Water
  • Oil

Stepwise instructions with images on how to make bottle gourd fritters recipe-

Step-1 To make bottle gourd fritters/ lauki ki pakore we will thinly slice bottle gourd.

Step-2 Now take a bowl and add any flour I have used tamarind flour to it, followed by ginger, sendha namak, coriander powder, cumin seeds, and red chili powder. Give it a mix.

Step-3 Add water accordingly mix it properly and make a runny batter of it.

Step-4 Dip all the sliced bottle gourds into the batter and place them on the Tawa and let them cook properly from both sides on a low flame.

Step-5 Once they start to get crispy and golden brown in color take them out.

Step-6 Our bottle gourd fritters are ready.
