A squeeze of lime makes everything better. Lemon Rice, which is popularly known as Chitranna in Southern India, is a popular dish of South Indian cuisine.
This dish is tangy, crunchy and so flavorful.
This is by far the easiest and quickest to make rice recipe so far.
The only thing you need to keep in mind is to boil the rice before otherwise, it will take more time to cook.
I will enhance this recipe with various distinct flavors of lemon juice, curry leaves, and spices.
It’s an amazing recipe that I carry while traveling as it doesn’t spill and stays fresh for long.
Many people enjoy this Lemon Rice with papad, vegetable salad, and even coconut, and peanut chutney. However, you can enjoy it as it is.

Quick & Easy Lemon Rice | Lemon Basmati Rice
- Frying pan
- 2 tbsp. oil
- 1/2 cup peanut
- 1 tsp chana dal
- 1 tsp Urad dal
- 5-6 curry leaves
- 1/2 tsp Jeera
- 1 tsp Mustard seeds
- 1 tsp Turmeric
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 2-3 green chilies chopped
- Half lemon Squeeze
- Cooking-In a frying pan.-Add oil to it add peanut let it fry for a while then take it out.-Then add chana dal, urad dal, curry leaves, jeera, mustard seeds, turmeric, red chili powder, salt and green chilies.-Mix all the ingredients together.-To it add rice and mix all of it properly.-Add roasted peanuts on the top.-Garnish it with coriander.-Squeeze half a lemon to the Basmati rice.-Let it cook properly.-Serve it hot.
