Ingredients required for making the dal maharani recipe : 

  • ¼ cup Massor Dal
  • ⅛ cup Kulthi Dal
  • ⅛ cup Moth Dal
  • ⅛ cup Moong Dal
  • ¼ cup Urad Dal
  • 2 tbsp Oil
  • 1 tsp Cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp Coriander powder
  • 1 tsp Turmeric
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Kashmiri red chili powder
  • 1 chopped Green Chili
  • 2 tsp Ginger crushed
  • ¼ cup Onion chopped
  • 1 tsp Tomato paste
  • 1 tsp Garam masala
  • 1 cup Milk
  • 1 tbsp Ghee

Stepwise instructions on how to make a quick dal maharani recipe:

For pressure cooker instructions:-

– Add 3 cups of water to a pressure cooker
– Add all the washed Dals/ lintels along with ½ Tsp of turmeric and 1/2 tsp salt
– Put the lid on and cook it on high flame
– 5-6 Whistles/ Until Cooked

For the Instant pot instructions:

– Wash and rinse the lintels. Keep aside.
– Turn on the Instant pot at pressure cooker mode with a timer of 15 minutes.
– Follow the directions for tempering and add the raw lintels/dals to it.
– Add 3 cups of water.
– Put the lid on and let it cook.
– Once the timer is done remove the pressure carefully.
– Then add milk and ghee to it and turn on the lid again.
– Cook in pressure cooker mode for another 3 minutes.

Tadka:-

– Heat a pan on medium heat then add 2 tbsps. of oil.
– To this add 2 dry red chilies.
– Now add cumin seeds, crushed garlic, chopped green chili, crushed ginger, and chopped onion.
– Once the onion turns translucent add coriander powder, Kashmiri red chili powder, salt, tomato paste, and garam masala.
– Sauté.

Dal Cooking:-

– Add boiled dal. Mix well and let it cook on a medium flame for 5 minutes
– Add milk and cook for another 5-7 minutes on low medium heat.
– Then add Ghee to the dal.
– Serve hot with rice or roti.
