What is gluten-free?

Gluten-free means avoiding foods that contain the protein, gluten. Gluten is found in grains like wheat, barley, and rye. It is important to note that just because a food is grain-based does not mean it contains gluten.

Many people with Celiac disease avoid foods containing gluten as eating these can cause severe digestive issues. Others opt to cut down on their gluten intake simply as part of a healthier lifestyle or to help manage certain medical conditions. In either case, there are many delicious and nutrient-dense options available such as fruits, vegetables, nuts, and seeds that do not contain any gluten but still provide nutrition and satisfaction!
