About Masala Lemonade Soda

Masala lemonade is also called masala nimbu soda in north India. The word “Nimbu” is a Hindi word that means lemon or lime.

I Mainly make masala lemonade recipe with plain water or Carbonated Water, but you can also try it with soda and sparkling water. It is one of the best-chilled thirst-quenchers for Indian summers!!

In the scorching heat of North Indian cities, particularly in rushing Delhi and the Western U.P region, the streets come alive with the vibrant energy of local street vendors.

These local cart vendors or local shops offer a rest from the high summer heat with various cold drinks, including the special Masala Lemonade, also known as Masala Nimbu Soda.

As the sun beats down, people from all walks of life flock to these vendors, seeking relief from the sweltering weather.

Ingredients For Masala Lemonade / Masala Nimbu Soda

  • 2-3 Cups Chilled Carbonated Water or lemon-flavored energy drink
  • 1 Cup Sparkling Water (as required)
  • 1 teaspoon Black pepper powder
  • 4-5 Fresh Mint leaves
  • ½ teaspoon Dried Mint Leaves
  • ½ teaspoon Black Salt or Kala Namak (as required)
  • ½ cup fresh lemon juice (as required)
  • 2 teaspoons roasted cumin powder (Jeera powder)
  • ½ teaspoon pinch of salt (as required)

Steps For Making Masala Lemonade / Masala Nimbu Soda

  • Firstly, Take a Tava or pan and add 2 teaspoons of cumin seeds (jeera powder). Then, Dry roast on low-medium heat for 1 or 2 minutes until it gives well aroma.
  • Please turn off the flame and keep it cool.
  • When it is completely cool, it is time to grind it into fine powder in a grinder machine or coffee grinder.
  • In a Drink mixer or Glass jar or blender jar, add 3 to 4 ice cubes or crushed ice and 1 cup of Sparkling Water, ½ teaspoon of black pepper powder, 2 teaspoons of cumin powder,1 teaspoon Black pepper powder, ½ teaspoon Black Salt (kala Namak), ½ teaspoon sugar, ½ teaspoon pinch of salt, ½ cup fresh lemon juice, 4-5 mint leaves(fresh and dried).
  • Blender till fresh mint is entirely blended with 2-3 Cups of Chilled Carbonated Water or lemon-flavored energy drink and spices.
  • Take two or three glasses or add 2 or 3 ice cubes and add lemon slices into it; add masala soda or nimbu (lemon) soda as preferred. Serve immediately with any snacks…
