This recipe of Malpua is a famous delight during festivals and special occasions is easy-to-make comfort food that can easily be prepared at home with simple ingredients and procedures needed for that perfect festival vibe. While the North Indians like to prepare their malpuas with lots of khoya or mawa and some people also like to prepare it with milk powder instead of milk. Everybody has their own way and method of making this mouth-watering recipe but as everybody says that more the authentic better the taste. Malpuas are known to be crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, which will melt in your mouth in just a minute.
These pancakes are usually fried in ghee till crisp along the edges, soaked in sugar syrup, garnished with pistachios, and served warm with a topping of Rabri aka rich thickened milk. There are many variations of Malpua based on the region it is prepared. With Holi around the corner, I decided on the Instant Malpua recipe for my dear readers to help them decide on what to make for the upcoming beautiful festival. What is Malpua?
Malpua, sometimes shortened to pua, is a pancake served as a dessert or a snack dipped in sugar syrup, which gives it a perfectly sweet taste and texture originating from the Indian subcontinent, popular in India, Nepal, and Bangladesh.
Ingredients for making these homemade instant whole wheat malpua are-
- 1 cup whole wheat flour
- 1/2 cup milk powder
- 2 tbsp. semolina
- 1/2 tsp fennel powder
- 1 cup milk
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 tsp cardamom powder
- mixed dry fruits
Steps for making this instant malpua are-

Step-1 To make this recipe we’ll take a bowl and add whole wheat flour, milk powder, semolina, and fennel powder. Mix it all together.

Step-2 Add milk slowly to it and mix it nicely making a fine batter of it. Let the batter sit for a good amount of time.

Step-3 To make the sugar syrup we’ll take a pan and add sugar, water, and cardamom powder. Bring it to a nice rolling boil for the syrup to be ready. Let it sit aside for a while.

Step-4 Now take a pan add ghee to it warm it up a little and add a scoop full of our batter in the middle.

Step-5 Let it cook from both sides until it turns crispy and golden brown in color that’s when it’s done.

Step-6 Now take the cooked malpua out and dip it inside the sugar syrup for a while.

Step-7 Our homemade instant malpua is ready.
